Am I an Alaska resident?

Alaska residency depends on a person’s intent or purpose in coming to the state. A person is not considered a resident if they are in the state temporarily. You are an Alaska resident for tax purposes if one of the following applies:

  1. You live and intend to continue living in Alaska permanently or for an indefinite period of time, even without a fixed address.
  2. You entered the state looking for a job.
  3. You entered the state with a job commitment in place.
